An established automotive retailer in Croydon is seeking an experienced Used Car Sales Controller to support the performance and continued success of its used car sales department.
Representing one of the automotive sector’s most established and recognised manufacturers, this business continues to perform strongly within an increasingly competitive market. This opportunity will suit an existing Used Car Sales Controller, Transaction Manager, Business Manager, or an experienced Senior Sales Executive looking to progress their career within automotive retail.
The Role
- Working closely with the Sales Management team, you will play an integral role in the day-to-day operation of the used vehicle department
- You will support the sales team in maximising opportunities, maintaining high operational standards, and delivering a customer experience that encourages repeat business and referrals
- Success in the position will require strong leadership, sound commercial awareness, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to the changing demands of today’s automotive marketplace
Key Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day management of the used vehicle sales department
- Drive performance across vehicle sales, profitability, finance penetration, and customer satisfaction
- Coach, support and develop Sales Executives to maximise individual and team results
- Structure and support vehicle transactions
- Ensure compliance with all sales processes, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain high standards of vehicle presentation, showroom standards, and stock management
- Build lasting customer relationships that encourage loyalty, repeat business, and recommendations
- Resolve customer enquiries professionally and effectively
- Support a culture of accountability, professionalism, and customer care
- Contribute to the achievement of departmental and dealership objectives
Customer Experience

- Customers expect transparency, professionalism, expert guidance, and a seamless buying experience from initial enquiry through to handover

Requirements
- Previous experience as a Used Car Sales Controller, Sales Controller, Transaction Manager, Business Manager, Senior Sales Executive, or similar automotive retail position
- Strong understanding of used car sales and modern motor retail operations
- Proven ability to influence sales performance and customer satisfaction
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Strong commercial awareness and decision-making ability
- The ability to coach, develop, and support a sales team
- Resilience and adaptability within a competitive market
- A proactive approach to identifying opportunities and overcoming challenges
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Right to work in the UK
